What is common ethical standards?
Ethical standards also include those that enjoin virtues of honesty, compassion, and loyalty. And, ethical standards include standards relating to rights, such as the right to life, the right to freedom from injury, and the right to privacy.
There are some ethics, or moral principles, that are generally agreed upon such as that it's wrong to kill another person, returning a lost wallet is good, littering is bad, and so on.
The Common Good Approach
This approach suggests that the interlocking relationships of society are the basis of ethical reasoning and that respect and compassion for all others -- especially the vulnerable -- are requirements of such reasoning.
The Fundamental Principles of Ethics. Beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy, and justice constitute the 4 principles of ethics. The first 2 can be traced back to the time of Hippocrates “to help and do no harm,” while the latter 2 evolved later.
The five ethical principles that inform our work as student life professionals are 1) Autonomy, 2) Prevent Harm, 3) Do Good, 4) Justice, and 5) Fidelity.
The 4 main ethical principles, that is beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy, and justice, are defined and explained.
There are 10 APA ethical codes or standards. The ten standards are Resolving Ethical Issues, Competence, Human Relations, Privacy and Confidentiality, Advertising & Other Public Statements, Record Keeping & Fees, Education & Training, Research & Publication, Assessment, and Therapy.
The three classic ethical principles of justice, sufficiency and solidarity can be traced back to many different sources: Greek philosophy, religious teachings, and reflection on human experience.
Ethics is traditionally subdivided into normative ethics, metaethics, and applied ethics.
Ethical Principles. The following broad ethical principles are based on social work's core values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.
What are the golden rules of general ethics?
The Golden Rule, or the ethic of reciprocity, is a common sense moral rule described in the philosophical field of ethics. The rule asks people to treat others as they would wish to be treated.
Describe two types of ethical standards. -Standards that others apply to you or that you're compelled to adhere to by external forces (such as licensing bodies). -your own internal rules you use to measure your performance.
In summary, integrity, respect, responsibility, fairness, compassion, courage, and wisdom are the seven principles of ethical decision-making.
Beneficence (doing good) Non-maleficence (to do no harm) Autonomy (giving the patient the freedom to choose freely, where they are able) Justice (ensuring fairness)
As a philosophical discipline, ethics is usually divided into normative ethics, applied ethics, and metaethics. Normative ethics tries to find and justify universal principles of moral conduct. Applied ethics examines the consequences of those principles in specific domains of practical life.
Acceptance | Favorable reception or belief in something |
---|---|
Promise-keeping | Keeping your word that that you will certainly do something |
Prudence | Doing something right because it is the right thing to do |
Punctuality | Adherence to the exact time of a commitment or event |
The 10 standards found in the APA ethics code are enforceable rules of conduct for psychologists working in clinical practice and academia.
A code of ethics document may outline the mission and values of the business or organization, how professionals are supposed to approach problems, the ethical principles based on the organization's core values, and the standards to which the professional is held.
Generally, there are about 12 ethical principles: honesty, fairness, leadership, integrity, compassion, respect, responsibility, loyalty, law-abiding, transparency, and environmental concerns.
Different people have different premises, different ways or arguing, different ways of doing the right thing. In Ethical Insight and Ethical Action, it mentions that there are really eight ethical styles: Rule-Bound, Utilitarian, Loyalist, Prudent, Virtuous, Intuitive, Empathetic, and Darwinian.
What is the standard 8 of ethics?
The APA Ethics Code is also an important ethics code for researchers in psychology. It includes many standards that are relevant mainly to clinical practice, but Standard 8 concerns informed consent, deception, debriefing, the use of nonhuman animal subjects, and scholarly integrity in research.
Workplace ethics refers to a specific set of moral and legal guidelines that organizations may abide by. These guidelines typically influence the way employees and customers alike interact with an organization—in essence, workplace ethics guide how organizations serve their clients and how they treat their employees.
Four broad categories of ethical theory include deontology, utilitarianism, rights, and virtues. The deontological class of ethical theories states that people should adhere to their obliga- tions and duties when engaged in decision making when ethics are in play.
The Platinum Rule was popularized in Dr. Tony Alessandra's book of the same name. The Platinum Rule goes this way: “Treat others the way they want to be treated.” The Platinum Rule is a very subtle yet powerful and important shift from false consensus.
The Silver Rule is basically the “Negative” Golden Rule. Taleb writes it as follows: “Do not treat others the way you would not like them to treat you.” Stated another way: if you don't want “X” done to you, don't do “X” to someone else. This rule is far more useful - let's see why.
